When I create a wall using the modelling tab and selecting a wall family the wall cuts correctly in plan but shows everything below, including objects below the veiw plane, this does not occur if I create a wall using the built in wall command.

I am modelling an existing facade and need to generate varying wall thicknesse, copings etc.

Has anyone else come across this and is there a work around for it

That is the problem when you don't use walls, sweeps etc to do what you are doing.  True walls are handeled differently than model elements that you classify as walls.  You could break down your "wall" into floor to floor "walls" and that might work for what you are doing.  I personally would do it as true walls and add sweeps.

I will try that, It will be akward though as the existing facade has tapered and varying thickness walls that will prove difficult to model.

Oh well, perhaps this will be adressed in future.

Many thanks

The varous thickness's can be handled as seperate walls / compound walls or walls with in place or added sweeps or voids.  I think a tapered wall could even be down with a tall reveal (a negative "wedge"Winking or a tall sweep (positive "wedge"Winking but I must admit that I have not had to do this ... yet.

Please let us know what works.

I thought i would update you with my retained facade,

Using walls/sweeps worked perfectly,

Thanks for your advice
