Hi, I'm in desperate need of "family" help in revit architecture 2008. I have attached a file that I have been working on to try and get some presentations together for my company. As you will see from my website it is seriously lacking in graphics.... www.advancedframingsolutions.com ..... lol "ADVANCED". I have been using Autocad for 10y so I have been in the dark ages... I'm having problems with the formula side of things because MATH was never a strong point..... It is not through lack of trying.... I am trying to achieve the following: studs centers at either 400mm or 600mm (option to choose between) the start of the opening for the window and also the overall positioning. the height and length of the frame.
If anyone is willing to help me with this I would be most appreciative. I am really appealing to the kindness is someones heart to help me with this, I'm stuck and in need of a helping hand. Sorry for the begging but I have no other options at this point.

Autdesk just improved their documentation on Family creation with the realease of 2009. These work for 2008 as well. Look for the Families guide in the documentation on the website. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=11091739 Just a couple of things I noticed with your family. I would use more reference planes. Parametrically dimension the reference planes and lock the model elements to those planes. Don't over constrain them with dimensions. Watch your parameter types (instance vs type) and use the one that applies to your model. Constrain your model elements better. As far as the repeating elements for the studs, look to the documentation on how to apply arrays to a family. I played with it and got you started. See Attached.
