I am trying to create a new border and having trouble with my change order area and date. i would like a field that changes on all my sheets by typing in on one sheet and it carring to the other sheet in the drawing set. Right now i have to type on every sheet the date and change order. any help would be great .

You need to learn shared parameters.  Check out the tutorial links listed in this thread.  The same thought process applies to titleblocks. http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=11078

I went through and created shared parameters for the text i want. when i go to add it to my border it will not let me grabe a shared parameter for my boarder. If i add a label to the border i can get the shared parameter but when i loag the border the parameter is in red and i can not type in it. Not sure where i am going wrong..

Did you set the parameter up as a sheet parameter that is "type" based?  Should this parameter be a "project parameter"?

Check out custom parameters in your help.
