question 2...i have a sloped ceiling drawn and when i droped lights or ceiling tags on the sloped ceiling it cuts the lights and tags in the direction of the slope in half, ie. the tags are now half circles and the linear light fixture only show half the fixture??  I thought revit automatically attached lights to the ceiling but when I view it in 3d it appears that my lights and tags are fixed horizontally and not on the slope of the ceiling???

The lights are horizontal .... unless you change them in the family.  Open your light family and under settings / family category and parameters, uncheck the "always vertical" box.  Now you can rotate the light to match your ceiling angle.

i was having this same problem in 2010.  I went to the family unchecked the always vertical, reloaded it to my proejct and i am unable to rotate it to match the sloped ceiling.  Is there something else?

well figured out the answer to my own question.  The families ceiling was generic type instead of compound.  I witched the ceiling in the project to generic and it work.
