Are there any standards to follow when it comes to naming files? At the moment we are just using the project number, but we are getting ready to start some projects that we will be sharing with several other people and our project numbers are not going to make sense to anyone else. I was thinking about using (project number) - (project name) - (discipline) for the format. Any other suggestions?

If you are worksharing projects you may want to read up on this Augi thread. http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=65897 It has file naming conventions along with a program to generate your local files (elimate user error and people working in the central file). We actually workshare all of our projects due to the increased back up potentional and the fact that somewhere down the line some one else will probably want to look at if not work on your project.
