Does anybody have an opinion on which is better for running interference checks Revit or Navisworks? Also, approxamately how long would it take for Revit to run a check on a job that's about 150 mg? Thank you.

Revit works fine for all REVIT objects. You should run a simple test to see how it works. Navisworks will run checks between different modeling programs. REVIT, AutoCAD, ... and more. If you are all in REVIT then why do anything else but if you are like us, the MEP is in AutoCAD MEP so if we want to run the check, we will have to use Navisworks.

Kind of a related question. When I run an interference check in 2012 it shows interferences between phases. For example, doors that have been demolished show up as conflicting with other elements. Is there a way to bypass this? Thanks.

Navisworks is my personal preference. One of the main reasons is speed. Running a clash report in Navis will take about 1 minute to compile whereas the same report in Revit could take 1/2 hour to compile.
Second reason is I normally work with 3 other companies/trades and the clash reporting in Navis is much cleaner.
Finally if you set up specific Navis export view/s you are able to control what is exported for the coordination to exclude non relevant components or staged items you may wish to ignore at the initial stage. The controled export is also used for documentation of coordination signoff and tracking coordination history.

I too prefer Navisworks 'Manage' for several reasons as follows:
Isolating the clashes, the ability to compare certain categories to certain categories from seperate models, tracking resolved and new clashes, color coding different categories, speed of look-around, walk-thru and fly-by navigation.
Once you get the hang of Navisworks Manage it's really quite impressive and extremely fast. The combined file size of 3 large models is less than 1 MB.
Navisworks Manage is the real deal. You can also retain certain clash comparisons (ie: cross bracing vs windows or columns vs ducts) and re-use them on subsequent projects.
