Working in Revit 2008

Yeah, I know there has to be a better way to apply finishes to my walls. At this point what I have to do: For a wall between say, the living room and the kitchen, I have to create an entirely new wall type and go in and edit it's structural properties, add finishes to either side. Then, say, if I want to handle the kitchen and the hallway I need a whole new wall type, this one with the kithcen and hall finishes. There has to be a more efficient way to do this.

use the split-face tool to divide the wall surfaces into different segments to paint.

take a look at this, it's for material-take off but they use the split-face tool
