I have a huge issue with Revit.  Recently it has been crashing on extreamly simple tasks.  One being opening a revit file while already having one open. I am working in revit and want to open another project so that i can grab some elements from it, i go to File, Open and revit freezes forcing me to "End Task" and lose all the work that i have done. I could understand revit crashing if i had just asked it to generate a complex equation of parametes, but to crash with an open comand is just absurd.  Is there a fix for this issuse? I have the lates build of Revit, so i don't think that the developers have addressed this issue yet.  If anybody has any answeres let me know, but i am mostly just venting, and hoping that a developer reads this and makes revit better.

You are exceeding the memory limits of your machine.  Some options:

  1. Have you set your 3mb memory switch?
  2. Make sure you don't have too many REVIT windows open
  3. Use worksets and open with the smallest grouping in both files you are working in.

I would be surprised if i am exceeding the limits of my machine, i have one of the faster computers in my office that was built specifically for for 3d studio max, and has 3GB ram and 2 dule core xeon 3.5 GHz processors.  Im not trying to gloat, just leting you know that i am not working on a normal pc.  That being said, i am interested in the "3mb memory switch"; i am not aware of such a setting and i will look into finding it, because i am following you other instuctions. In fact, the error ussually occurs at random when i fist open a file or only have one or two windows open and try to open a file.  It's not isolated to my machine either, there are others in my office that have had the same problemb.

Thank you for your information.
