We work on residential projects and are in the process of designing a house with a curved stairway. We would like to place a curved stud wall under the stair which comes to the underside of the stair construction. Does anyone have any ideas on how to successfully model this in revit? We are using the "Create Generic Model" and a combination of solid and void sweeps to approximate the wall. Revit Architecture should come up with a way to make a "Sweep-Blend", because that is the type of form we would need to accomplish this form. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We run Revit Architecture 2008. Thanks

* Draw a curved wall that u desired * Create a new ramp type & sketch a ramp, same thickness of the wall. * Count the actual riser height of the stairs eg: x * Count the actual tread depth of the stairs eg:1 * Now in the Ramp Max Slope Type property (1/x) = y, enter y in the Type Properties Other. . . . . * Measure from the underside of the stair to the upper level = z * Enter the z value as the Top Offset with a negative dimension.

Thanks for all of the input, and now I'm looking forward to upgrading our system to RAC 2009. However, we solved the problem in a similar manner to what chira suggested. We created a floor sketch with a slope running parallel with the stair curve. We then set the tail offset to the second floor, head offset to the first floor and finnished sketch. The floor appears as a ramp rising from the first floor to the second floor following the stringer of the stair. Finally we attached our wall to the underside of the floor. The only downside to this process is you must hide the floor element in applicable views. A minor detail for a working result. Thanks again

Here is a Family I just created to crop the tops of curved walls under stairs. Not perfected, but it works okay. Just place it in a curved wall, type the angle of the curved stair, the heigh of the bottom and top cut and then the radius of the wall. Then you can turn the Temporary linework off once your finished. - Let me know if it works for you.
