Revit 2008 Hi, The columns in my parkade do not show up properly in a plan region that I've created. They show in projection when they are definitely being cut through based on my plan region view range. I have similar structure that shows up correctly, such as adjacent walls which go the same height. Could this be a glitch? Does anybody know what the problem is? Thanks - Mike

First - we don't know how you created your columns so the problem may reside with that. Second .... are you sure everything is set correctly in VG? REVIT does have some quircks with view ranges sometimes. I have had walls that I know were cut but they would not show. Believe it or not, try playing with your bottom and view depth numbers.

Re: First - Not sure what you mean. Its a normal column duplicated from a default Revit column on the modelling bar. Re: Second - Is there a separate VG for plan regions? If so where is it? As far as I know VG doesn't differentiate a plan region from any other part of that view. Tried playing around with all the view range stuff; doesn't work. I think I'm just going to settle on realizing its a quirk. Thanks anyways.

There are several types of columns in REVIT. The standard one that will assume the finish of the wall, concrete and steel columns are other options. All may behave differently. In addition, you might make an in-place family or a column family of your own. When you define those columns, you have the option of controlling the category they will reside in and thus they are controlled by VG. Did you delete the plan region to see if the columns show ... if not, check your VG. Verify that the columns really start and stop where you think they do. You might just cut a section elevation to see where they really are.

Yes! Solved it. Big time glitch. If I take a normal wall and run it through all my columns (course detail level) which are showing as a projection, they all blend into the same material and show properly (cut). When I delete the wall, the columns remain showing correctly being cut though. That is weird.
