HO there. I have been trying to get the Earth Fill Pattern to end along the line of the bottom face of a monolithic staircase so the hatch shows correctly underneath the stair in a stair longitudinal section (this stair is going from grade to basement, sloping down on earth) To make it even more obvious, how do i clear the Earth Fill Pattern from within the basement level? Do I have to have a Pad as the basement level floor? The pad is the only way I have encountered for removing the "mass" of the toposurface above, and with it, the fill pattern. Thanks.

Yup, you'll have to use a pad to clear the toposurface and its hatch pattern. You can still have a regular floor, or you can use the pad as the floor. you can also turn off the visibility of the pad in all of your elevation and section views if you don't want to see the pad itself. Hope that helps. Ruth
