Does anyone know if its possible in phasing to change just the material of a component without having demo the whole thing and redo it. We are working on a hotel renovation and the client is changing the color of the EIFS at various locations and wants to see the change between the two. Does anyone have any ideas how to achieve this? Design options will work but you will have to have copies of the EIFS wall and everything hosted in / on it in both options. Options do not allow hosted elements to cross options. That may make this be a pain. You could just change it & make your PDF's

Thanks, ya that concept of design options is almost the same in this case as just using phasing. If you were to break up the finish from the rest of the wall, then you could just use phasing to accomplish the same goal. We were contemplating breaking up the EIFS finishes on the walls and making basically a wall that is just EIFS that can then be demo'd and a new EIFS wall in the same place with the new colors. But that isn't a true representation of what happens since the EIFS is never actually demo'd, but the color is just changed. And it's such a pain to do all that work and have mulitple walls just because we want to change the material on an element. Any other ideas? Adam

It seems as though you and I are having similar difficulties... I have an existing structure that has stucco as an exterior finish. We are going to remove the stucco and replace it with a stone veneer. The problem is that we need to show the existing portion of the wall that will remain, and differentiate that from the new finish. Like stated above, it seems like the most straightforward solution would be to make two walls: one for the existing structure to remain, and one for the finish. Then the finish can be demo'd and replaced with a new finish (which is an independent wall in itself). Not only does this seem like a huge pain, it also creates problems where windows, doors, etc. are concerned. If anyone has some insight into this problem, it would be much appreciated!
