I have created an exposed rafter tail and i am curious if we can place a parameter that we can say type in 3:12 for the rotation. right now we have degrees and if our roof is say 4:12 then we have to calculate it and type the degrees in to 18.43. PLMK. ThankS, Lorne

Anybody? Is this possible? It would really be helpful to place in our family, because we indicate roof slopes by 3:12, or 4:12, etc. Not Degrees. Thanks

Is this a family element or do you just want to know how to rotate it in elevation?

Family element. I have created twofamilies that need to have the slope of roof specified. One, is an exposed tapered rafter tail that needs to obviously bet the same slope as the roof. Two, we have created a trapeziod window that we need the top of the window to run parellel with the roof slope above. Make sense? It's not in elevation. It's a parameter from the family.

Did you try creating a parameter that uses a trig function conversion . See the attached simple family example. Dan-o
