I am putting gutters on a residential structure. I am trying to have the gutters "bend" or "merge" with each other. When I put two gutters intersecting at 90 degrees to each other, it does not "trim" automatically (see image 1). When I added another gutter, it seemed to trim automatically (see image 2). How do I get Revit to trim the gutters automatically when I add gutters that are adjacent or join each other.

If you add all of the gutters in sequence, they will trim automatically. You can also add sections to an existing sequence but don't expect two separately defined sweeps to clean up.

I tried the suggestion but I still get the following image (see attachment). I had to grab the grip (dot) on the gutter to the left of the image and drag it to shorten it. The gutter was going all the way across and was coming through the wall. The gutter to the right stops at the point it is now and does not go any further even if I grab the grip and try to force it to intersect with the other gutter. What am I doing wrong?

I've also had this happen to my sweeps. You can pull the blue dot grips on both of the gutters to make them intersect until they automatically clean up. Sometimes it just takes a little playing around and some patience.
