I am working on Revit arch 2008 an want to know if there is such a thing as a drafting symbol that reports the elevation in it. The reason for this is that as I develop my details, there are some things that I would like to add a level to, but I don't want it so end up being added to every elevation and section. Also, I may want to be able to call out Top of Masonry in many different locations and different heights, but right now it tells me ,"A level already exists with the same name, name it something else" Any suggestions?

Why not just use the "hide in view" command to obscure it in the view that you don't want it showing up in? (select object, right click, select "hide in view"?

Because I already have tons of sections and elevations and I don't want to have to go through all of them and hide the new level. I figured there might be a way to make essentially a spot elevation for sections and elevations.

Why not just use a spot elevation then? It wont pull throug to other views but it sounds like thats what you want. You need to have something to reference, but thats Revit. You can reference a detail line, but the dim goes away if you hide the line. Theres also white lines or nesting an invisible line in a family. HTH Nick

Thanks, I just figured that out right before getting this reply. Now all I have to do is play around with the graphical representation of the spot elevation tag so I can put the text above the line and the elevation below.
