You have several options depending on your project and needs. 

1. Simple put a hatch in your elevation.  Only a 2d solution & no parametrics.  No output to take-offs.
2. Edit face on the wall and pour on a new finish.  This could be a 2d or 3d solution depending on the pattern you apply.  -  No output to  take-offs.
3. You could add a thin wall to the face of your wall that is just this tile material.  Fully parametric (height - starting - ending elevation).  Can be 2d/3d depending on the assigned material.  This will show up in quantities.
