RAC 2008 Is there a way to have more than one door material in the model? I have both wood doors and metal doors in the project. When I change the material of one door type it changes every door including the double doors. It seems that I will have only one material for every door. I can change the door types in the schedule, but so far every door must have the same material. Any direction would be nice.

When you say material, my first reaction is material as scheduled. There are two types of parameters used with REVIT elements. Type and Instance based. As you can deduce from their names, if the family has a type parameter, every element of that type will have that same value for that parameter. If the family is built with the door material as an instance parameter, each instance can have a different value. I don't know what doors you are using or what parameter you are looking at but most of the door families have the door and frame material set as instance parameters. If you want the doors to have different rendering materials associated with them, you will have to created a unique type for each door of that material and size and a name for that material and assign that as appropriate to each door type.

You must edit the family door you want to change, then edit the component and change the sub-category, they are in "frame-mullion", "panel" and so on, create a new materials and finishes to the component, give them a new name, change too the sub-category to "NONE", save the door with another name and "load into project", in your project select the door and change the material you did create.
