Hi guys... I have placed door tags in my plans. All good fine... but i find that i have to override the number becasue revit loses count on the numbering.,I t does not number them 1,2,3,4 etc...It goes 1,2,3,109,6,and so forth. I would like to find out how you set a perameter that when you place a tag D01, the next tag will be D02 and so on and so forth. Much appreciated. It saves time on a multistory building.

I've never seen REVIT loose count. The rule is, REVIT will never number the same as a door already in the project and it will number in sequence from the last number used. It starts at default 1. If you change that to D1, the next door will be D2, D3, D4 ... if you change that to 103 the next will be 104, 105, 106 ... OK ?

Cool fair enough... But lets say you have numbered your doors by category. And you have D101, D102 -D120. If you remove a tag it will not recount them so that they are in order again. The reason I am asking this is because I am trying to make a parking tag for parking so that it can place a tag on a parking bay and sequentially count them as it tags the parking. I went back to understanding door tags in order to replicate the "formula" used to count doors. At present my parking tags are blank with hidden question marks that apprear when the mouse is on it. Hence the back track to how that was done with doors tags.... Would make more sense to understand the formual used to numerically count a number. Any suggestions? :-)

The tag only reads the property of the door. Removing the tag doesn't change anything. If you delete the tag then add a new tag, it will come in with the number associated with the door..... the same number as the tag you deleted. To change the door number, you have to change that property of the door. As far as I know, there is no "formula" for doo tags. I think this is a system level variable and process.
