I have a repeating detail of a brick wall section, and at a larger scale, say 1 1/2" = 1', i want to see the hatch pattern because it is meaningful.  But at a smaller scale, say 1/4" = 1', I don't want to see it.  How can I control this?  I attached the images below to illustrate what I'm talking about.

Draw the repeating detail only in the the 1-1/2" view and it will not show in the 1/4" view

but if you look at the attached images.  the hatch was drawn at 1 1/2"=1', yet it is showing up at both scales.

I guess I am confused as to how you created this.  Do you have the brick detail component in both the 1/4" view and the 1-1/2" view?  If so, then the results you are getting is correct.  It would seem to make more sense to just leave out the detail component in the 1/4" view.  If you really want to show the bricks at 1/4" and only have the hatch show up at 1-1/2", you will need to edit your detail component.  To do this, open the detail component and select the filled region and click the visibility button at the top of the screen.  Change it to only show when detail is set to fine.  You may need to draw a mask region that is the same size as the filled region to show at other detail levels.
