I am part of a firm that has been using Revit for a while, office wide, on all projects. We have generated a fair library, but over time it has become cluttered and confused. Our naming conventions have slipped and now objects are not where they should be - we really need a general overhaul. We've been looking into addons or plug ins to assist with viewing our library such as Tectonic and Familit, but I was curious if anyone else has been using these or another program with success? We also don't have a dedicated 'libriarian' in our office as we are still pretty small and can't really afford that luxury. I'm sure others out there are in the same situation and i was wondering what their successful processes have been? Thanks

I do have the similar situation in my office, and I am planning to develope an API which can manage family componetns and typical details. So far we have sucessfully developed an API which can generate Door Numbers and Window Numbers associate with Rooms to the format we want. That was quite a bit of hardwork involved for an non-professional computer programer.

Mike, Does your API actually link the door number to the room# or just generate the same lookup dialogue as Avatech?

Not really an automatic link, still need to manually activate the API and click "OK" to update the Door numbers or Window Numbers, if any changes in Room Numbers or sliped a door. But that is a big step for us. Imaging you have a 30 floors appartment building which contain more than 100 doors, without that API we need to manually update individe each door or window one by one, but now the API can help to make that work done in less than 3 mins. To be honour, the Avatech door update was an inspiration, however, the format of Door Numbering is not the way we want, also that only able to update Door Numbers. Therefore, we decided to develop our own one.
