thanks for the help last time! but now i have a problem with the site. I have read the help but it is not working. I have a massive sloped site, and the house sits into the site, and hangs over in places. The house sits on 5 different levels. I made the site, with toposurface and all the contour points, then modeled the house and now i want to cut out the ground/site where the house sits..... how do i do this? I have tried it with the pads on all the different levels, but it wont allow me to have overlapping pads? and when i try on the basement level, it doesnt cut all the way through to the top level.? Is my question clear enough?os am i using the wrong tool?

missr, Try this... Go to a top oriented 3d view. Use a crossing window to select everything. Then filter out all except the topo and exterior walls. Then isolate those objects. Select the sit tab and SPLIT SURFACES. Select the topo and then draw lines around the perimiter. This will break up the topo into two regions. Delete the section that is where the house sits. Hope this helps. TRUEVISIONS JED

Does the "Pad" tool not work for you? The intent is that you draw your site, it cuts through your building, and then you create a pad. The pad is just that a builidng pad that is flat and push/ pulled into the site with the base at a specific height. HTH Nick

Each level of the house, stepped back, it terraces, so when i used the pad on the basement level, it worked for that- but then when i tried to repeat and do the same for the next level up and back, it wouldnt let me because it said it was either overlapping or it couldnt cut higher than the toposurface? (that message repeatedly came up) I then tried to use the pad at a higher level first, but then the solid part of it, showed in the lower levels??! But i tried the SPLIT SURFACE and that has been successful! (Thanks Jed)am i using the building pad incorrectly???

I tried using 3 seperate pads and it didnt seem to have a problem... The only thing that I can think of is that Revit is not to fond on true vertical surfaces on site... BTW I am using the latest build of 2008. Nick

When seen i plan, the pad boundries of two adjacent pads should be aligned (pick lines or align tool). Two pads can not hold the same space in plan, even if at different levels. Divide the footprint of the building into a jig-saw puzzle of pads, one for each level.
