I work for ARCxl.com which has recently created a web-interface used to provide Architects with customizable construction details composed of 2-D parametric components built with Revit. You use the “Insert from file>Views” command to easily import your detail drafting views into a Revit project. You place call-outs in the plans, sections and elevations, that reference the corresponding detail drafting view. You can download free sample details and try the interface in demonstration mode at www.ARCxl.com and. I hope this helps.

Just create a standard revit file and label it Standard Details. Create detail views of each standard detail you want to create and label them in a way that makes them easily recognisable. We have a alphanumberic system loosely based on the MasterFormat divisions. Then they are all in one file. Then when you are in your project, go to the Insert tab, and Import from File > Insert Views from File. Now if those details you are using for your 8 cottages are never going to be used again then you should just Duplicate with Details 8 times (if in the same project) or Import from File from the first one you do(if in 8 separate project files).
We use these all the time. We converted over to Revit last year and it is my job to take the standard files that are in AutoCAD and add it to this Revit Standard Details catalogue.
Insert > Insert from File> Insert Views from File
