Until I stumbled across these last week in the Auodesk knowledgebase, I was of the same opinion.

Issue
You want to know if your dual processor machine supports rendering in RevitŪ.
Solution
The RevitŪ Accurender Engine (this engine is used when you press the render button) takes full advantage of the multi-CPU/core/hyper-threading processor systems.
Rendering, used when shading a normal drawing, does not take advantage of multiple procesors. RevitŪ draws in one thread.

You want to know if AutodeskŪ RevitŪ supports dual processors.
Solution
AutodeskŪ RevitŪ does not make use of dual processors; however, note the following:
A small performance improvement may be noted on a system with dual processors if AutodeskŪ RevitŪ does not have to share processor time with other applications.
AccuRender (embedded in Revit) does take advantage of dual processors, resulting in raytrace and radiosity processing that has been reported to improve by as much as 90%.

Decreasing the time of a radiosity study

Issue
You want to know if there are ways to decrease the amount of time required to perform a radiosity study.
Solution
The following tips will help you decrease the amount of time it takes to perform a radiosity study:
You can upgrade your hardware to improve performance.
Dual Processor machines can cut the amount of time needed to perform a solution by as much as half.
The faster your processor is, the quicker your radiosity study will be.
Ensure your computer has sufficient ram. However, if RAM is not currently a limiting factor, adding additional RAM may have a limited return.
You can modify your system settings in the following ways to increase the speed of a radiosity study.
Reduce the number of steps in a solution. This will not only speed up the solution, but it will also allow a more precise determination of when the solution is "good enough." You can always tell the solution to "Continue." This will further refine the radiosity results, as the same number of steps will be performed again.
To reduce the amount of data included in the solution, use crop boxes from other views.
Use "Back Face Culling" to remove the backs of objects in the view from the solution. The resulting image may contain artifacts, such as inaccurate shadows or reflections.
Use "View Culling" to remove any object not visible in the view. The resulting image may contain substantial artifacts such as radically different lighting, shadows, and reflections.
Reducing the quality of the radiosity study will reduce radiosity times. This may also negatively affect the quality of the study, which may not be desirable in all cases.
After a solution is complete, instead of trying to adjust other Radiosity settings and rerunning the process, use the "Adjust Image" tool to tweak a solution. In many cases, if a radiosity is too light, too dark or too washed out, adjustments can be made to the contrast and brightness of the image to create a desirable result.
You can also use previously saved solutions to drastically reduce solution times.
You should be aware of the following issue with loaded solutions:
Loaded radiosity study appears to be missing data
Note: Color Bleeding does little to affect the speed of a radiosity study. Color Bleeding controls the color saturation of reflected light. Higher values cause the color of reflected light to more closely approximate the color of the reflecting surface. Meaningful values are between 0 and 1.

Multi-processor is fine. Dual processor is good, Dual-core dual processor is better, but HyperThreading from Intel and HyperTransport from AMD will slow down render times. Yes, it uses it, but slows it down! If you do any render test turning it off and on, you'll see the difference. Also, it does not support Quad. It will see the first two processors. I talked to them and asked about this. They said "It runs on Quad," but they were misleading. After asking if it actually utilizes the third and forth processors, they had to admit it doesn't.
