I guess you have all answered my real question which was, Is there any point in persuing this approach in Revit. Why we bought Revit? We were upgrading to AutcCad 2008 and got a good price for Revit Structural and MEP. We bought 3 seats of structural and the rest of MEP as a package with 9 seats of 2008. We were under the impression that it worked with 2008 and that we could do the walls we needed. Inventor and Solidworks do not have the architectural features we need so it would be good for the structural people and not so good for the Architectural. Until I really got into it I couldn't see the flaws and if I can get past these few problems It still might be a good thing although it is going to be a steep learning curve for most of our people. I guess I thought it was like Inventor for architecture and the demo we recieved was impressive. One of the reasons we went this route also is that we build a lot of generic type buildings which change only in overall dimensions and placement of windows and doors etc. We hoped to have a parametric building which we could modify quickly. I still think we can do this by using the approach of a proxy type walls and drawing our details in 2008. This will give us the possibility of making a quick presentation to our customers and the architectural electrical and HVAC people can use the model for their purposes and most of the structural details will remain constant. So I'm not giving up on this. As you said there is still a lot of potential here and for the price it's not so bad considering the dream program for us would be StruCad which is 25K. I appreciate all the help I have gotten at this forum and will keep you posted as to how we fare with our efforts.
