Ok! I understand the diffrence between the two. When I first installed this ( see pic) it worked fine for 30 days. Then after 30 days was up it went into demo mode (which allows you to use only, no printing, no custom family loading, and not saving) got that down! But what I'm saying for Arch. 2012 after the 30 days trial is up, and you try to run into demo mode the whole application just quits, But 2011 will still run in demo mode all day long.
So when the box window for 2012 comes up asking To BUY or Activate, the TRY button is grayed out, so when I hit the small RED X button to close window the whole application just closes out and nothing, but if I do the same for 2011 it goes into Demo mode just fine. So why does 2012 Arch. do this?? Thats the question!
This is the disk!

1 year late on this thread, but I was having the same problem - having installed Revit 2012 for 30 day demo, then not being able to continue with "viewer" version after 30 days. Figured out the problem while I was reading this post, and decided to post the solution in case anyone else (like me) comes to this post looking for a solution...
In the past, after 30 days, Revit would take you right in to the viewer version after 30 days if you said you still didn't want to buy/activate it, however, the newer versions of Revit don't do this automatically. In order to use the viewer after 30 days, go to your start menu/Autodesk/Revit folder, and open "Revit Architecture Viewer 2012".
Hope that's clear and helps some people out there...
