Unpinning does seem to solve the problem for the "Door - Curtain Wall" family template. But "Curtain Wall Panel" family template has the Center (Left/Right) plane pinned, and that seems to work fine. So although unpinning solves the problem for "Door - Curtain Panel", I would think that is only a work around, and that there is an inherent problem with that family template. I am now working in Revit 2013 and am having the same issue. I have ran into the same issue in the past on Revit 2012, and Revit 2011 as well.
