I hope this solution helps you. Please check the attachments. Here you can show only 10" wall easily but the drawback is that you can not show up the materials. If you assign any materials you have to switch off the cut patterns as the material for 2" wall will look like left out. But this will be better than linework I guess.

This is a useful thread - without a good answer as yet, though turning the line colour of a wall layer to white so it hides a wall material is interesting. The problem with building the whole model with two walls one on top of the other is that the windows and doors are not cut through both walls, though this can be a good thing in some cases as you then have more control over the sections views - but imagine trying to edit every wall profile to match all the window and door openings and having to edit everytime there is a change. if you join the two walls the windows and doors should cut through both

I know exactly what you are asking, I am looking for the same answer. How do you turn off the brick veneer and only show CMU. I am tring to get a T.O.M for contractors, but I have a brick soldier course at the top of the wall. So if you find anyone out there that actually understands Revit and has the answer, let me know. It's a simple step, we just do not know what it is at this time.

Turn off in what view?
Have you considered using levels (with no plans). This is pretty standard for major elevation points like TOM, joist bearing or similar.
