Go to File-->New-->Family...and choose the Generic Model Face Based template....

Ok, once you have your family, load it into the project. Click "Component" and in the Option Bar, click "Place on face" and start placing your cones on the sphere....

Very clever erland! I was thinking of that too. I did a pretty slick one in the conceptual modeling enviroment using surface rationalization, but it didnt apply to this persons specific needs. i love conceptual massing!

anna, I explained it to you in the thread #20, in additon, to avoid the spaces between the cone and the sphere (see images), move (in your family file) the cone down and load it again into project and then use the join geometry tool....

you will probably have to make a new ref plane and make sure you are drawing on that plane, you will probably have to create a new plane for each point
