I may have spoken too soon. I just made a 'face based' generic model purlin, and it attached to the glulam just fine, but when I tried to array it i get the following:

Create the family and attach to one of them, then array...

I think I did exactly as you show (I wached the video too and seem to be doing the same thing) first image shows my face based purlin, second image shows that one purline arrays ok, but rest array in horizontal plane:

Typhoon, Thank you for your videos, I just realized you made them for me - thank you. Im not sure what I am doing wrong. I have attached the file, and if you have time to look at it and tell me what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can array simple objects in plan, but not in this case.

You forgot to attach the file, put that and tomorrow i take a look and create new videos of what are you doing wrong, will see, I go to bed now, i'm in a "deadline" to finished a project and i don't have many time but i gonna sleep now a few hours and tomorrow when i have time i take a look, it's a Promisse (i think this is the word)...

I figured out what I was doing wrong! I was using the "back, front, top, bottom" navigator to pick the view I wanted to array in and not the "east, west, north, south or named worked plane. Evidently you have to be in the e,w,n,s or named view to array correctly. thanks for all your help Typhoon.
