I had the same crash every time I selected an element in the 3D view, using Revit Arc 2009 x64 in a intel E7200 with 4gb ram and a Sapphire 4850. I tried everything to fix it and nothing worked until I installed yesterday the Revit Web Update 2. I can´t believe how stable it is now. Hope I dont have any more problems since I know my 3D card is game oriented and it´s not supposed for designers...

Sometimes it can come down to a corrupt 3D view as well. I always try deleting the 3D view and recreating it. We've had a couple of projects where the 3D views would get corrupt after a few days... Must be something to do with the clients template file as I haven't experienced it on any of the projects we've started from scratch.
