I am finalizing some construction documents at my firm and I am making custom titleblocks for this set. The company I am doing this for is very large and has us go off of there template, but the problem is that the titleblock has a lot of labels that aren't already in Revit. I am trying to figure out how to make custom labels for the titleblocks, but ones that are custom to each individual sheet. I have made some already, but when I change them on one sheet, they are mirrored across all the others. I need to make labels that don't mirror to all other sheets. I need to make ones that are instance ones that can be different on each individual sheet.

Just use text on the sheet if you don't want them to be associated with everything else

Can text be put in the template and edited in each individual project? I am creating the titleblock template for this compnay and we have many more projects to come with them so we want to create a titleblock template that can be the same in each project. Don't want to have to have to put text in all of these sheets and line them up all the same... We have about 80 different spots in the sheet that are like this... The company is a very large multinational corporation

This is actually fairly complicated to do. I have several videos on it if you search for 'title' or 'param' on the left saide of this page http://www.cadclips.com/RevitCADclips.htm some of the videos are old but the application has never changed other than the REVIT interface.
1. Open your Project Template file.
2. Create / specify a shared Parameter file in a common / available location on the network and add in all the custom parameters you plan to use on the title block.
3. Save and close the Project Template file.
4. Open the title block family and add 'labels' in the title block family and specify those shared parameters
5. Leave the title block family open.
6. Open the Project template file and add the same shared parameters as Project Parameters.Make sure you set the category to Sheet and or Project Information depending on if it's a Type or Instance parameter. (probably the most mis-understood step)
7. Save the Project Template file and leave it open.
8. Switch back to theTitle block family and load it into that Project Template file
9. Save the Project Template with the Title Block family loaded and all the new Project Parameters.
10. The new Project Template file is now ready to do with functioning custom parameters.

Well thank you. Your typed out description is confusing me :-/. Project templete and title block and everything. I am semi confused. And is there any of your videos for free? My firm isn't looking to buy a subscription unfortunately and neither am I. I think I did exactly what you said before, but they are all labels that still mirror onto every other page. I am not totally sure what I did wrong. I can't do a label that is one way on one sheet and another on the other sheet. Thank you for the help, but the description kind of confused me.

Ok I figured it out with what you typed. I didn't have the Sheet checked. Thank you for the help. Saved me a whole lot of time

Good to hear. Exactly, that's the step that, first time through, everyone either gets wrong or forgets or doesn't understand.
Even after doing it correctly then coming back monrths later you'll forget that step. Watch and see. . . . I still forget it. There should be a warning "YOU FAILED TO SET THE CATEGORY". Also if the project parameter is Type or Instance changes the available Categories. You can also check off more than one category. If you include 'Project Information' the parameter shows up in the Project Information dialog box.
Needless to say, adding in custom labels to a title block is not easy or intuative in any way shape or form. It is in fact painfully difficult and very unintuitive. Especially when the boss tells a novice use 'Make the REVIT title block show exactly what our old title block showed'.
I don't think you'll find that process in the help menu either.
** The next horrible stubling block will be adding in new labels later on and the order in which you do those steps. Just follow the same steps as above (other than you will already have the title block family loaded and saved in the template file). When you reload the title block and prompted to Overwrite the existing version or Overwrtie existing version and it's parameters always use the second option. Took me FOREVER to get that right. Then after you do that you have to fix all the parameters again.
Yes we have lots of free videos at CADclips but not that stuff . . . . . kids gotta eat : )

It's much appreciated. It was a tough one, but this has helped quite a bit. Corporate offices make there own titleblocks and we have to follow that way... But give the intern the job and he will figure it out  ... And I did. Now they are set for all jobs for this company

ok reading you post on title blocks i have 1 question.....
in the lower area of my title block we have 3 different dates to enter.
drafter start date, ckecked date & approved date.
how can i have more dates added to the title bloock?

custom to each sheet ... add an instance parameter to your sheet family. Not a project or type parameter.

I suggest you add 3 new custom instance paramters to your titleblock family just as you indicate. However, non out of the box parameters in a title block family have to be 'shared parameters' which leads us on down a little rabbit hole.
1. Establish a shared paramter file and create a group as required.
2. Add your 3 new parameters as text.
3. Open the title block family.
4. Add a 'label' and use the 'add parameter' button and select 'select' for a shared parameter to select one of your new shared parameters. Repeat 3 times. Save and load into project.
5. In the project add 3 new 'project Parameters' and navigate back to select the same 'shared parameters', one at a time.
6. * Critical - Check the Sheet Category for all 3 new project parameters.
7. Now when you hover over the blue ? your mouse will allow you to click and edit.
8. If you go back and forth between editing the titleblock and reloading into the project use the "Overwrite the existing version and it's parameter values'.
The idea of course is to have these 'project paramters' already established, based on the title block family, in the 'project template' file. Then the user just edits the title block seemlessly in their project.
* Project paramters can in fact be transported from project to project with 'transfer project standards'.

I was wondering, what if I want to create a list in my titleblock? I know there are some schedules that allow to put a list with the date of revision and issue, but I can't make it work. Besides, we don't put all the dates of last revision, we only put them before sending them out, and in the number of revision, we use letters and numbers mixed (don't know why).
So, it would be great if I could only put a "Rev.#", a "Date" and a "Issue" copied several times in one same titleblock but allowing me to write different things in each one. Is this possible?

a simple way is just create and insert a generic tag family with instance parameter in the sheet, and on the sheet link each text to a diferent text parameter.watch the video below to understand better:http://youtu.be/k2nf0hPEks4hope it helps
