Revit 2013 -
how do I make corner mullions available to select? As you can see from the screen shot, only the 2.5 rectangular is available. how/where do I load the family for corner mullions?

no, i'm showing that in the window at the bottom under families that there are other mullions listed there - but in the properties menu they are not available to select. in the picture you are seeing, the "down arrow" is selected and only 2.5x2.5 rectangular is listed

In that same properties, just below the item is TYPE. Click that and you will get the attached image.
Create a new type and point it at the correct profile listed in your families.
This is a fundamental process. I suggest you find some fundamental videos.

yeah thanks. I've been using Revit for 4 years and am self-taught. The problem is that every time Revit issues an update, they CHANGE THE FUNDAMENTALS! i can do this myself in Reivit 2010, 2009.... the process seems different in 2013.
is the window you are refering to 2013 because mine does not look the same. when I click on "type" my only options are to duplicate and then create my own. not seeing where the connection is to "point to" the correct profile.
perhaps you could direct me to one of those fundamental videos?
anyone else out there have suggestions?

Under profile you see "DEFAULT"? Click on that and you will get the pull down on the right to point to a different profile. This has NOT changed.

for anyone else who may have this problem - I've figured out the steps:
in the views window click the "+" for curtain wall mullions.
right click on any of the options you would like to use for your project and click "new type"
now, when you select a mullion and select the drop down in the properties window, it will appear as an option.

I don't think this has ever changed.

think what you want, but in all times prior to this, there were already more options to select in the drop down menu of the properties window. I've never had to go down to the families view and do the steps that I outlined above. something changed. don't know if its the version of revit or something in my settings. but there simply were no options available other than 2.5x2.5 rectangular until I did those 3 steps.

Becca, I just had to respond to the challenge. This has not changed. SEE BELOW - Revit 2009, Revit 2013

i don't know why you are taking this personally. I am telling you that when I clicked on that drop down menu there were NO OPTIONS AVAILABLE. I had to find a way to get them to show up. I've never had to do that before. Like I said, it may have something to do with my settings in the new Revit program that were not automatically pointing to the correct location. I'm not stupid - clicking in the properties drop down menu is something I am familar with and tried prior to seeking help.

I'm not taking any offense. I just don't like the assumtion that everything has changed when it has not.
Here is your problem <I Think>... If you clicked on a mullion in a pre-set curtain wall, that mullion is pinned. You have to un-pin it. Then you can edit the type, pick the family, round, rectangular, corner, then assign the appropriate profile.

I un-pinned it. what I am saying is that the family type "rectangular" was all that was available. the profile type "2.5x2.5" was the only one I could select. "trapazoid corner" or "L corner" were not available until I did the process I described previously.
I'm not "implying" everything has changed. But I have had this problem with 2013 before. I wanted to import the curtain wall glass door into a curtain wall, but it wasn't available (only solid or glazed was available). in all prior versions I simply went to "component" then "load family". now I get an error and it says this family can't be loaded. Some nice guy on this forum told me that now I have to go to "door" then click load family to make sure the curtain wall door is loaded within the "door" family. same thing has occurred with certain structural components. THIS WAS NEW FROM MY PREVIOUS VERSION.

Take some time to LOOK at my images! You can't expect anything more than rectangular when that is the family you are modifying. DROP DOWN THAT WINDOW AND PICK SOMETHING ELSE!!!!
