Hi, I have been using revit for a number of years now, but Im not quite sure how I would go about modelling this as shown in the pictures. I have my design which I did in sketchup. I would assume I would need to use the massing to get the curves for the walls and roof, but then how would you get the glass meet up and get that those shapes with the glass etc.. Any suggestions about how you best model this in general?? Note the design is on top of other existing buildings which are the grey ones underneath.. Cheers

this looks like a simple SketchUp massing. this can be imported into Revit and used as base for generating your Revit model with the Building maker tools. Check your Help for the steps to import a SketchUp model into Revit. You want to import it into a Mass so that you can use the Building Maker Tools. If not, this looks like it be done with basic massing and extrusions tools in Revit. hth

There is nothing hard to create that in Revit, just use Walls, Floors and curtain wall, also you will need to create some IN-PLACE families in those CURVED floors/roof and Curtain Walls, remember you can always edit the "profile" to those walls/curtain walls...

Hi again, so i have imported the sketchup model in revit as a mass. I can apply walls to it (by using the pick face and selecting the mass), but when I come to pick the curved edges, the wall s in revit dont curve, but appear to be lots of fractured straight edges to make up the curve. Any ideas?

In a Elevation/section View select the Work plane you want to work (a face of a near wall) then go to Home>component>Model in-place then select the category you want, in this case select "Floor", give it a name then create a Solid Extrusion with the shape you want, in properties add a material parameter so in this way you can control that material in project, finish the model then adjust the lenght for that extrusion...

Thanks a lot typhoon thats working good for me. Would you recommend i model the entire floors/roof with this method of inplace mass solid extrusions, or just the curved bits and use the usual floor tool for the flat parts? Also, you mentioned to make a material pararmater, which I addedm but then how do you go about changing the material of it? Because under its properities, the materials and finishes is greyed out, with the only option of clicking that little box to the righ (with the = sign) opening up the material paramater box..Cheers

so i just did a quick render and a very crude Photoshop job. looks like my design has changed direction a bit hahah. I will have to work on all the details in Revit ofcourse before i start properly with photoshop. so will add interior stuff and details like better mullions etc. any suggestions to improve the 'realness' of it??

After render export the image in a PNG extension, then in PS it's like you have an Alpha Channel image, try it...

ok, that works thanks. ive begun to do some interior renders but im not the best when it comes to interior renders. Is there any way to control the amount of natural light coming into a room. I have set the rendering scheme to interior: sun only and adjusted the exposure to make it darker (as it always seems to come out too light).. What else can be done to improve the lighting for interiors in terms of using daylight (not artificial). Thankss. picture 17 attached shows some change i made to the exposure and materials, other picture shows no adjustments..
