does no model lines mean no curtain walls in openings?

lines is greyed out because your in 3D view if you look on your left on your ribbon, you'll notice lines are also greyed out there, is the same command go into a plan view and draw your lines there

both of you are answering the wrong question.. i am NOT asking about lines with the ribbon.. i am asking about lines with the classic.. here is the image again- notice this is NOT the ribbon..

I really don't understand why you are fighting the ribbon. I really believe it is so much better than the classic. And in this case, the classic just might not be working.

thanks Hub- you say you can't understand why i'm fighting the ribbon.. can you understand why polls show nearly half of revit users are using the classic? how many would be using the classic if it had model lines and shortcut keys and didn't give multiple error messages everytime you closed it?.. not to mention all the other things that are not working properly with it.. it seems pretty obvious to me that OVER half would be using the classic if it worked properly.. no need for me to go into all the reasons why the ribbon does not perform as well as the "native" UI- but can you connect any of these facts with logic and then understand it? the ribbon with AutoCAD is the same idea- but autodesk allowed the classic to funtion PROPERLY on that program- and do you have any idea how many AutoCAD users use the ribbon these days? nearly none.. don't you wonder why? the factory stated that they made a mistake forcing the ribbon on revit users before they got it right.. i wonder who autodesk thought they were selling this program to- themselves? but logic is not popular these days so if you feel a certain way then that's fine.. i'm just praying they don't make the same mistake twice and force anything on us for revit 2011.. otherwise i will have to uncover all the possible workarounds there are and stay with 2010.. and that will mean being part of a SEPARATE industry based on RAC 2010.. and there are PLENTY of us.. and of course that would also open the door for some software company to start building the ultimate BIM program..

sorry when i said ribbon I meant the left column your baiscs 'tab'that also has lines greyed out the command is independant to the curtain walling command

WYS1WYG, this issue about the ribbon was several times discuss here in the forum, Autodesk said everyone can change the U.I. but: "It is possible to enable the Revit 2009 user interface in a Revit 2010 product, but no support will be provided for problems that occur in that environment that are not reproduced in the standard 2010 user interface."

BTW, i use Autocad since 1990, start with version 9 in DOS, now i still use Autocad Civil 3D 2010 and i use the Ribbon.

Typhoon- telling my that autodesk doesn't support the classic UI was rude and YOU KNOW IT.. and you know I KNOW IT.. and what's AutoCAD got to do with anything.. wow you sure know a lot about revit for a CAD monkey- lol anyway- i can easily switch over to the ribbon on those occasions when i need model lines.. so please tell me why i'm not seeing "curtain system by line" on the ribbon? BTW- that ribbon is pretty that's for sure.. lol

Whoa! WYS1WYG .... What Typhoon posted is in no way rude or disrespectful because it comes straight from AutoDESK. AutoDESK only supports the ribbon - period. Sorry, but if you use the classic it is at your own risk. I also don't know where you get your numbers for classic vs ribbon users.

Hub- you can't lie to me.. lol and i don't really care about any numbers.. i just know i'm happy right now because if 2011 doesn't have the classic i can just do my model lines by switching over to the ribbon just for that.. and it's not very often i need model lines anyway.. but that IS a workaround.. and that's all i needed.. Hub- just to prove how worthless this ribbon is- just wait until 2011 and see how radically they have changed it.. you'll see.. an who knows- maybe i'll like it myself- lol.. for sure you will have to learn the new UI all over again- when logic would have told you to stay with the classic (model lines or not) until they got it right.. even Eddy Krygiel co-author with Tatjana Dzambazova former revit product manager is selling classic UI T-shirts with their new Mastering Revit Architecture 2011 book.. i'm sorry you don't get it Hub- but it's okay- no big deal..

does anyone know if the ribbon has "curtain system by lines" like the classic UI has? if it does and you know where they are- please tell me.. thanks..
