Seems that everyone that trys to do log homes haa problems with revit. Here is a tip on how do do log walls. - Create a wall type that is as thick as your thickest walls and build your revit model.
- For each wall, do an in-place family - void sweep that is assigned to cut the wall. See attached profile.
- Note that the sweep is taller than the wall and does both sides at the same time.
- Edit the wall profile and insert doors and windows at any time.
- Note that the profile can change for each "log" and that one wall can be 1/2 log spaced from the other wall at corners.

Hello ! I've seen your log wall, but I'm not able to make the wall myself. I'm italian and I'm not good in english. Could you please post the revit log wal file ? Many thanks Manuele

Hello, I tried to make the log wall but my english isn't so good, so my result isn't like your pics. Could you post the rvt file for the family ? The attached file is what I've done. Thanks Regards Manuele

your results is very similar, you just need to edit your reveal profile or void form which ever you used and make it extends past your wall profile

You used sweep profiles in your wall type which is ok except they can really overload the project. You will also notice that the wall will not cut at an angle at a gable end. That may be fine if a facia covers that area. These walls are easy to place and move. What I have suggested is something different because it uses a simple wall that is cut in place by a void form. THis is not as easy to control or place but it takes less overhead in the model. It is not a family... it is an in-place void extrusion that cuts the wall.

I might also suggest that you can take that same profile, and make it into a profile family and then assign it to your wall type in the wall type properties panel. This would save you the step of having to make an in place void sweep for every wall.

I THINK WHAT HE'S REFERING TO IS THE ABILITY TO APPLY PROFILES/SWEEPS TO WALL TYPES IN ARCH 2011. SO THAT YOU CAN APPLY A WALL SWEEP TP A WALL TYPE AND NOT HAVE TO ADD IT IN FOR EVERY WALL.
