Hey There! I am pretty new to Revit and it's my first post, so please hang with me. I am trying to replicate our AutoCAD office stadards in Revit 2010. One of my huge frustrations is that I cannot figure out how to snap to and endpoint or any point of a 2D Annotation family that I loaded into a project sheet file. In the latest case it's a "view title" I created that contains some lines and I want to move the endpoint to the frame of my title block. See the attached image.I hope I am clear what my problem is... Thanks so much for your help!!!

Select the family, go to "Move" button then pick in the endpoint and pick in the other endpoint, simple isn't????

Hey Typhoon, thanks for your response, but that excately what's not working. I cannot select the endpoint. Once I select the family and enter MV I get this blue dashed box around the view title (see image) and it doesn't snap to any point of my (in this case) red highlighted family.

Is that an "Image" or a 2D annotation Family??? no matter, pick, go to "move" and drag where ever you want.... Did you have the "Snaps Off"???

What's strange is that I can snap to lines that are in my custom "Title Block", but Icannot snap to lines in my custom "View Title". Aren't both 2D Annotation Families? Anybody able explain this to me? The basic thing what I try to do is to have a "View Title" that I can snap to the intersection of lines on my sheet (drawn either directly on the sheet or drawn in the family of the "Title Block" . I attached another image. The 2 "View Titles" on the right side are moved there only by eyeballing, zooming in and nodging. Is there not a way to creat a snap intersection in the "View Title" family to move the title precisely and fast into the right position? Thanks!!

When you use the "move/Copy..." command use the "TAB" key to "jump" to differents snaps (endpoint, midpoint, intersection...)

Typhoon, it's a 2D annotation (created by modifying the original "View Title" family) and my snap setting match exactely the settings of your screen shot.

Thanks so much for your help. The video was helpful though I am not quite there yet... it still doesn't snap to the "view title" element. If I create a family jsut with the lines to see if the snap works, based on the "generic annotation" template it works exactly as described in your video. Does that mean that if I want to create a "view title" family I need to use the generic template and recreate all the lables that reference the view names, scale...? I cannot just use the view title that comes preset with Revit (the one iwth the bubble and the horizontal line) and modify it to look like I want it to look??

You can modify the stock Revit View Title, save the changes as your own >> upload it into your project >> select a view >> Element Properties >> Edit Type >> and then use the pull down menu to select your custom view title... you may need to turn the extension line off (also in the same dialog window).

Surprise!!! Two experts Typhoon & qabulin can not understand a simple question. Bine your question is very clear and the answer is you can not snap to the View Title.

What if you were to add reference lines to your view title template; could you snap to those reference lines when you bring it (the view title) into your project?

No even if you add lines to your template..it will be not snapped in the project. Why don't you try it, you will find answer yourself.

Sorry I jumped the gun on that one. I know it works that way for Families and dimensioning to the reference lines. Thought it might do the same with the object snaps.

Place it as close as you can visually, then zoom into the intersection you want to meet. Then select the title and use your arrow keys to nudge the title left/right up/down. The closer you zoom the smaller the nudge. You will get it as close as you could ever get it in hand drafting and close enough visually.
