I'm trying to find a good quality Revit Door family tutorial.  I need to design Large Hangar doors for aircraft hangar storage.  These doors would be 22' high and 100'+ wide how can I create a door fmaily that would show me these size doors.  I've tried to edit the opening door family but I need a little more assitance with being able to show a door on one side or the other of the opening.  Is this an end door? Middle door? Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you so much....

The door does not have to be built to size.  If this is an overhead type of door, it would be built very much like an overhead door with the opening parameters adjusting the size from the type settings.  If it is a sideways sliding door - it again would be built like a sliding door.

Study those families for some pointers.

Yes they would be like a sliding door. But would open from the middle and be made out of steel instead of glass.  Can I edit the sliding door family to make 3,4,5 even 6 sliding doors all to stack on opposite ends of the hangar?  I know once I get one of these figured out my revit building will come together much quicker.

Thanks Typhoon I've downloaded them all but had some errors I'm working to fix those now.  A while ago you did a screen shot for me showing some imaginary surfaces it worked out great!  Can you make a door family the same way with the screen shot.  I could change the parameters once I know what to do.

Basically its would like a sliding glass door but the rails would go on the outside of the building.  Can I make a family that shows the doors open or closed?  I see most of the doors that are created in Revit show the doors closed. I'd like to be able to show them open or closed if possible.

Hi, i think you must read those tutorials familie guide because create a family is not like create a "Mass" with transparent material, i put attached some sliding doors families and you can see how they are created but you must understand first the concept of the "Family" and isn't in 5 minutes of video Jing i can explain everything about how to create this kind of doors, just like you said 95% of the doors appears "Closed" and what do you want is a sliding door where you can change: "I'd like to be able to show them open or closed if possible". It's like you can see a door opening 10º, or 45º, or 90º, you can do that using a "Refence Line" not a "Ref. Plane" and a parameter (dimension and label that dimension) with a angle you can change that opening angle view in that door, but until you don't "Feel" you can deal with that I suggest you create 2 or 3 types or the same door (1 closed, 1 opened and the other 1 panel close and other opened until middle)...

OK I figured out how to do this for a 8 panel parametric family. With the help of a friend and now a month later I'm trying to make this a 6 panel parametric family but I keep getting errors. Can one of you take a look at the file and tell me how to get rid of just one panel in this door family.  Everything is attached to ref lines or planes.  my problem is a ref line that make the door tracks a specific length each time I remove one of the panels the door tracks get screwed up.

I attached the door family.

OK Typhoon, I figured if I can understand what sections are locked to ref lines and ref planes I could also make another door family that shows all the doors rolling to one side. When I try and re-create this door family I keep getting other errors.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, this is the door, you must change the "Rails", you have "Ref. Planes" (Left, Center and Right) but you create another ref. planes over this "Principal" ref. planes, and in plan view you dimension (left, center and right planes) but you "Constrain" the elements to the others ref planes, don't do that, use them...

OK I see the ref plane that is over the left and right planes. I removed the unnamed planes then removed a panel from each side and its ref plane so I now have 4 planes on each side.  Then I'm trying to EQ each side of the door but it will not allow me because of the width constraint. Do I remove that constraint?

Sincerelly "DANPOOLER"? i delete almost of your dimensions and create new ones because i don't know if those dimensions are "locking" what??? so, when i'm not sure I "Play" for security and create all new...
