Hello there, Our file is merely 50MB and we are experiencing very slow drag when in elevations and perspectives in our model. I was told to review my warnings and we have 335! I’ve started going through them and correcting them. I ran across one warning, which is warnings: 39-297(so the bulk of the warnings). The warning is: “The room bounding element was not exported into a gbXML file”. What does this mean? I’m not exporting anything. I just merely placed rooms and tags in the specified rooms. Thanks, Lorne

Anyone Please? I really need this fixed cuz my file is REMARKABLY SLOW!!! It's only 50.3 MB. I have over 200 errors from this one problem. I have tried to delete the rooms. I checked "Compute Volumes" under room and area settings. I've added one solid ceiling thorughout my prject so the rooms go up to that...still nothing. Any ideas? Please!? Productivity on this file is horrible now. It takes about 30-45 seconds for it to realize I picked a tool to use. Then I can't even see what I'm selecting cuz it is sooooo slow.

YOU DON'T SAY IF YOU ARE SHADING WITH EDGES OR SHADOWS. TURN ALL OF THAT OFF AND MAKE IT HIDDEN LINE. IF THESE ARE DEPENDENT VIEWS ... YOU ARE IN TROUBLE. HOW MANY WINDOWS DO YOU HAVE OPEN?

Ok I'm confused. My issue is not with the view I'm using. First i only have one window open. I continously close all hidden windows when I think of it (i've set up the shortcut CH to close hidden windows). So usually one or two windows are open at a time. I use hidden lines in all my drawings (except) 3d. But I have all Shadows turned off in ALL views. My 3d isn't even that slow, it's the elevations mainly. Floor plans too. I know it has to do with the gbXML errors. I need to know how to remove these?! I've tried to delete all the rooms adn that didn't do anything. I tried to re-export the gbXML (which I never did in the first place, at least I didn't mean to if I did). But that gave me 270 more errors! So now I have double the amount of errors and an even slower file! I don't know what to do. It's so slow I can't get any work done. Times like these I wonder why we switched to Revit.

Do you need to turn on "Calculate room volume"? Unless you want it (if your generating a schedule), you should leave it as the last. Coz everytime you edit/modify, it generates internal calculations. If you are working locally (not in Central file), I would suggest you copy-paste the entire model on a fresh project and import all your stantard from the file you were using. It works for me whenever I don't have time to check all the warning. And if you do that, you could always check the warning in that new file..if they are the same, there's something wrong with your model. Then, you have to which action causes the warning.

OK I tried this, but it is not allowing me to copy and paste my entire project. It gets an error that there are objects that are locked and can only move in one direction, whereas, there are objects that also are locked in a different direction and can only move in that direction. So it is not liking me. This is really aggrivating. Is there any way to unlock these objects to allow me to copy and past them? Thanks. Lorne

I don't think we can help you much because we don't have your file and we don't know how you got to where you are. I do know that we have projects 4 times the size of yours and do not have the problems you are having. I've never used the gbXML so I don't know what problems that may have caused you. Do you have an earlier version of your project before you started having problems? I try to have multiple copies of my local program on my machine just incase I need to re-create something. If you have any of those, you may be able to recreate your problem to identify the cause. I don't think copying your project is an easy or good solution. Talk to your provider, they should be able to help you.

Ok thanks. I have been in contact with our provider and we're trying to figure out the cause. If I ever find out. I'll let you all know. Thanks for the help. Lorne

Well my CAD provider and tech help did not know much of an answer. He said that, copying the entire model then repasting it probably isn't the best idea, since so many things are locked and lineweights are lost then etc etc. He said we'd probably run into more problems down the road with that approach. He also gave me some steps for file maint. But that didn't fix the problem. So needless to say, we still don't have it fixed. The file did speed up a little from the file maintanence but still have countless errors. I tried the copy and paste attempt anyway, and it didn't work, because my objects are locked in different directions. Sorry I can't give anyone a remedy for this issue as of yet. I wish I could, because I still need it fix.

Did you ever try the old trick of opening the central file and doing a "save as". Giving the project a new name reduces file size , and purges many bad demons from the "backup file". Something to try anyway?

lorne17, I'm interested in learning what caused your problems ... if you can ever find out. I have a thought of something that could cause your problems. Do you have any autocad drawing imports? Sometimes people pull in cad drawings .... intending to just use them as backgrounds but they don't pay attention to how they import them. As a cosequence, you may have 2d drawings imported as 3d elements in a plan view. In elevation, you may not really see them because they will just be a line somewhere. They will really play havoc with your project.

Perhaps I should delete and purge it out? How do I import CAD files as 2D? Do I have an option for this? Because yes, they do show up in my 3d and elevations, I just hide them. ALso I did do a SAVE as from the Central. That was part of the maintenance our Cad guy told us. We opened it with Audit, compact saved it. Then deleted our local and saved our local again. Not overwriting, but saving a whole new file, to avoid any problems. That sped the file up, minimally. But our errors still reside.

Follow up to my issue: I have successfully gotten rid of the gbXML issues. The way I did this was to go to my 3d view and cut everything that is room bounding, i.e.: floors, roofs, walls and ceilings. Then I repasted and they were gone. Now the only issue is I have to redo all my line work on those objects, because I had overridden the graphics in view or used the linework tool. But if my file speed is increased, I think it's worth it. This Post was helpful and I got some good feedback as to how to fix this issue. Might be good for whoever needs it: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=76487 Thanks for the help. **UPDATE** I did this and ran into a couple more issues...just FYI. The dimensions get deleted. I went to my back up file and copied all dimensions and pasted them into my current file, and none would paste because the original references were no longer there. Just a heads up if you try this method.

**UPDATE** My file is back to full speed now. I thought it was my computers hardware and after long searching this issue. I somehow decided to update revit to the most recent build. That solved my problem. Now I just wish I figured that before.
