One of the biggest improvements that I would like to see added to revit and seems like it would be relatively easy to add is the ability to add sub-folders to the project browser. I understand that there is a need to maintain certain categories as fixed by the system in the project browser, but I would like to see the ability to be able to right-click on a browser catagory, such as Detail Views>Add sub-folder. You could then arrange detail views into folders such as: Plan details, roof details, curtainwall details, interior finish details, etc. This would also be very useful for organizing drafting views and wall types. With wall types, I would like to be able to put exterior walls, interior stud walls, interior masonry walls, foundation walls, etc in their own subfolders. I know that there is the ability to filter the project browser, but I find this clumsey and its effectiveness is largely related to your naming views. Also, I would like to be able to change a plan to a detail view. I have made some callouts for enlarged plan details. When making them, I did not realize I had them set to plan in lieu of detail. I cannot move them. It seems the only way to change this is to make a new detail view for the same location as my enlarged plan view and cut/paste all of the detail components, tect, and line work from one to the other. I should be able to just drag the detail view from the Plan category to the detail view category in the tree or select the plan view and under properties change it to a detail view.

I have done this by adding a shared parameter to the views category then setting my broswer up with that as the second sort. To do this, - under file / shared parameters, create a new shared parameter. I called mine View sort. I creted mine in a group called views ( You may have to add that group.) - Then under settings / project parameters, click add - select views from the category list - pick the shared parameter button then select the one you created earlier & finish up Now, when you create a view, fill in this parameter under the views properties. (I add this to my view template as well) To fix your browser to use this, right click on the views at the top of the browser and select properties - click duplicate - change the name - under folders, set up th folder grouping and how you want them sorted. Hope this helps. BTW - set this up and your view templates in your project template so you don't have to do it again.

Ok works like a dream...but, is there anyway to get rid of the "Floor Plan" that sits in front of every name? Take a look at the image. Thanks

So can I assume that by the lack of response there is no way to do this?

That never shows up in my browser. Are you useing Arch, MEP or Str? My guess is that you have something set in your browser organization that adds that prefix. Can you post a shot of your broswer organization? Might help to better answer your question. Nick

Apparently if you just sort by "Type" then it inserts the Family before the view name. We have alsways sorted by "Family and Type" so I had never seen this before. If you change your sorting it should get rid of the "view family name:" portion. I guess you learn something everyday HTHNick

Sweet...sometimes I wonder why Revit has some of the features it does. It just gets in the way sometimes. Nevertheless, thanks

It appears that you are sorting by paramter 1 and parameter 2 but have not assigned a value for p1. The ??? is when you have not assigned a value to the parameter that you are sorting by. HTHNick

You just need to find the parameter that you are sorting by in the element/ view properties and then assign it a value. If that doesnt help send a screen shot of your browser sorting. Nick
