Started with the Revit 2017 Out-Of-Box Ball Valve (Pipe Accessory) and added additional valve symbol as model lines so that the valve symbol still shows up in course detail level, even if the valve is rotated to the side of the pipe. You will need to disable the checkbox for "Symbol Top Visible" or the checkbox fo "Symbol End Visible" depending on how the valve is rotated. (I'm open to suggestions on better ways to do it, but ran out of time for now.)
