Hi I am so green I dont think I even qualify to be called a newbie, but I want and need to learn Revit.  I have replicated historical woodworking styles and profiles of interior rooms and would love to use this software to show how they would look in 3D. Looking to expand my client base and I know this would help.  I need to start somewhere and if anyone had any suggestions, steps, books or DVD's I would really appreciate it.  I have the time, I want to learn it right.  Thanks in advance!

Hi and Welcome to Revit's world....

Your HELP menu is your best book, remember that.... http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2013

Check the "Tutorials"...

Search in our FORUM section for all kind of questions you have (and you'll find), if you can't see any satisfactory answer then you can ask, also, you have lots of FREE videos about Revit in Youtube.

Good Luck....

I can verify that 1000's of people have learned and become masters of REVIT from using the CADclips Video Tutorials.

A couple quick tips.

1. Start with a good Project Template File

2. Establish the 'Levels'.

3. Create 'Grids'.

4. Draw the floor on the correct Levels

5. Draw the Walls and pay attention to the top and base properties of the walls.

6. Add in Doors and Windows.

7. Add in the Roof(s)

8. Pay attention to the Crop Regions of the Views. They 'Clip' the extents of the views.

9. Create Sheet views.

10. Place the views on the Sheets.

11. ALWAYS pay attention to the associated Level of everything.

12. Floor plans are heavily impacted by the View Range and Cut Plane.
