I've got some views where I can resize the crop region and it has no affect on the model. I can turn the crop window off and on with the "show crop region" button but, I can't get the cropping window to hide any portion of the drawing.

To the left of the "Show/Hide Crop Region" button is "Crop/Do Not Crop View", make sure that that button is just a blue box with no red line through it. That should be the reason that you can see the crop region with out it actually cropping anything. HTH
