okay so i hoping someone can take a quick crack at an answer on this. I have a co-worker who decided that it would be a great thing to group exterior windows in a unit plan group but not the exterior walls. The reasoning behind this is means for an entirely different discussion however. I am now trying to correct excluded group member issues along with items being associated with different levels yet being in the same group. my current problem is when I go into group edit mode it pulls in the exterior walls that the windows (and doors) are in even though they aren't actually in the group. then when reloading it then shows those items in the project. then I get walls in walls and all kinds of crazyness. is there a way to prevent this from happening? (prevent the walls from coming in not prevent my co-worker from touching a computer)

Hosted elements and groups act funny. If you export a hosted element, the host will export. However, if you copy to clipboard and past, you will see that there is a temporary host that goes away after the hosted elements find the right host.

what im really trying to do is remove elements that are excluded but yet that I can't unexclude in order to delete. The only way i know to do this is to right click the group in the project browser and then click edit opening the group edit mode. then when I bring it back into the project and replace the group it brings in more stuff and then I get walls on top of walls. Its basically a problem created by trying to fix another problem.

NOTE that I said if you export a group, you get the host elements. THAT is what it sounds like you did. place the goup somewhere else in you project .... without walls there, then you will get the group with walls that you can now remove from the group.
