Hello RevitCity users! I am new to the community and have been attempting to learn Revit for a few weeks now. I am an Architectural Draftsman for Titan Construction & Engineering out of Rensselaer, Indiana. We focus on pre-engineered steel-fabb'd buildings and design-build construction. I am currently helping my Senior Draftsman learn all we can about Revit. As an avid AutoCAD user, I'll admit I was skeptical at first about learning Revit, but I have seen many features about it that have won me over. Unfortunately it seems it is not an easy program to learn by yourself. I will look forward to posting and scouring information from this site to help learn how to use Revit. I would like a little input with something though: how did many of you fellow Revit-users learn the program? What did you find worked best for you? We have the tutorial booklet that came with the software and one book which we purchased, titled 'INTRODUCING REVIT ARCHITECTURE 2008: BIM for Beginners' by Eddy Krygiel, Greg Demchak, and Tatjana Dzambazova. Again, this book has tutorials, but I am still finding myself stumped about things which I feel the book does not explain very well. I am wondering if some form of formal class or training would be better suited for learning Revit as quickly as possible. I look forward to everyone's input. Thank you, Mars

Welcome to RevitCity! I look forward to your questions. As for me I am self-taught. My company purchased the program and decided to test it out. I was put in charge of testing and learning. We had a demonstration and then a college teacher came to our office for 2 one-hour long sessions and kind of got me pointed in the right direction. I do most of my learing by using the Revit Help, Trial and Error, Using Forums (Revitcity is a great forum resource), and simply practice...practice...practice! I wish you the best of luck on your Revit Journey. One thing to remember "Don't get discouraged!"
