I want to create a Pyramid Roof(also as known A square hip roof),but there are something mistake on the edge

here is the plan and sections, you could see there **Two Cut - Square**

I create it with roof by footprint without define slope, and then add split line, but I found the edge is **Plumb cut**,and cannot change.

Don't split the roof, use the define slope.  I konw, it doesn't make a pyramid - right?  Like the first image below in this 9/12 roof.  Here is the solution.

  1. Determine the overall height you want at the peak - image 2 (I used point elevations) - In this case, I will hold the 9/12 for the sides and modify the front slope to less slope which will be 18'-9" in 38' - 0".
  2. Also image 2 - Enter the slope for the front roof element by using a formula.   (((GREAT TIP - YOU CAN USE A FORMULA ANYWHERE REVIT WANTS A DIMENTION!))))

Done

You use a similar process if you want to hold the front slope.   Just calculate or build the roof as a single front slope only then find out how high it is.

Sweet, …however, shouldn’t the slope formula be half of 38’, meaning =18’9/19’? Typo?

I was playing with the slope arrows. Having their tails and heads at the same elevations, should produce pyramidal roof, right? Well, …It doesn’t work! Any idea why? (2015 R2, Win7)

pijpiwo,

I should have included the dimensions.  This square is 38' deep so the number is correct.  I changed the front slope.   The side slopes would be 1/2 the width wich was 50'.   Just a stupid quick test roof to show this.

I’m not sure if I follow you, but let’s put it this way: if the roof is 50’ by 38’, then the formula should be:

height A / half of 50’ or,

height B / half of 38’

pijpiwo,

For some reason, you are having a mental block.

The front edge defines the slope of 18'-9" in the depth of 38'.

The side edges define the slope that is 18'-9" in 1/2 the width of 50' = 25'  (( Checks - 9 / 12 ... 9"x25 = 225" = 18'-9"))

I only looked at one image - the last one - below and it looked like it is 1/2 a pyramid.   3 sided roof sloping to a point on one open side.  My example was base on that image.   For a true pyramid, you are correct.

Sorry for the confusion.   Because of malware, I typically will never open other sites but I did this time.   I don't understand why the poster didn't just include the images here.   Then I would have see the other images.
