Hi guys,
My English is not best, I hope you understand what I mean : ).
i have a problem by creating a roof (mass). The basic layer is a ellipse. The other two elements are Start-End-Radius-Arcs (to get roof height). (look at the picture one)
My problem is, that Revit 2010 don´t create a form with these 3 elements. And if I use only the two start-end-radius-arcs, there will be no elliptic layer at the basis. There will be some kind of overhang (picture 2).
Please, if somebody has an idea, help me.
Thanks…

I don't understand why people isist on using true ellipse's. Tell me how they will lay it out in the field....how do you dimension it?
When we hand drafted and needed an ellipse (before templates '60's), we always used an approximation as described in the first link below.

This link shows how close an appromation is to a real ellipse - note that very long, thin ellipses do not work as well.

What describes these "approximate" ellipses are simple arcs and those you can use to do your geometry. AND NOBODY WILL KNOW IT IS NOT A TRUE ELLIPSE!
