Haven't tried it yet, but if it works as easy as your example on your website, I take my hat off to you. Nice to see addons which are not chargeable - as these really should be part of the ootb installation of Revit anyway.. (like scheduling door swings, renumbering of tags, etc...hint, hint AutoDesk!) Thanks, Lars

Hi,
I love your hatch 22 program, but how can I make a hatch that has an overlapping repeat: (see attached) ?

you have to figure out where the pattern repeats cleanly in both the x and y direction.
See the attached image. It looks like it's where I have it marked in red. Base your pattern off of that.

...that is to say the lines you will use in hatch22 will be all the lines that show up within the red boundary I marked above. Y
Your hatch pattern will have to include all of those lines in order to work correctly. (if you want to use hatch22)
It's possibly that you could do a simpler version (like you originally drew).
Once you created a hatch pattern in hatch22 for that you'd have to manually edit it to get the offset you want.
But this would be a pain!
Sure, the .pat file would be smaller, but I don't think Revit would draw it any more efficiently.
In the end you still need all the individual lines...so try it with the bigger pattern.
Make sense?

Here's a pattern for the above tile arangement consisting of four lines:
;%VERSION=3.0
;%UNITS=INCH
*RC22618,DXF Entity Section
;%TYPE=MODEL;-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Pattern written by HatchKit v2.7 Hatch Pattern Editor
; HatchKit v2.7 Hatch Pattern Editor(c) Cadro Pty Ltd 1990-2012.
;-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0,0,2,4,1,4,-13
90,2,0,4,1,4,-13
-90,0,4,4,1,5,-12
0,-1,4,4,1,5,-12
arranged as is shown in the attached picture taken from a forthcoming HatchKit. To use repetitions constrained to the X and Y axes as shown above you would need to define the 100 or so lines in the 9x9 square shown in the second picture.
To arrange the pattern discussed this thread from JLink
http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=26963
you would need to define about 440 lines in a 29x29 square as shown in the third picture. HatchKit defines the same pattern in 14 lines.
Really big patterns may overburden Revit by their size and recomputation but I've not seen much difference until linecounts reach the absurd. The effort required to set them up in the first place may be an issue.

Hugh,
I see what you're doing now! (rotating the hatch). Very clever.

The hatch is not rotated.
In HatchKit patterns are formed by arranging the pattern template on a grid. The grid mesh points can be arranged in any two differing directions at any spacing. In the attached picture the red and blue lines indicate the directions and sizes of the arranging grid and the highlighted lines show the pattern template.

Do you really want mortar joints? Typically that is too intense for most views.

sshneyer,
What problems were you having with hatch22? Can you be specific?
Did you look at the samples file? That will probably help as it has some brick patterns in it.
