Typically an update utility is supplied on the disc your new release is sent on. Note that the library does not need to be updated for new builds.

Hey wwhub do you know if the materials library for rendering is the same, i know there was updates to the render part in the last build. we have a centrally located library and was wondering if i have to swap out any files like the assetlibrary_base.fbx, we've added custom materials to our library so i dont want to overwrite the whole folder?

PeteGGA, If you are updating from 2008 to 2009, 2009 has a new render engine and the 2008 library can not be updated to it. If you are asking about updating 2009 to a new build of 2009, I have not yet had that experience so someone else will have to address that but I believe the render library will not have to be updated except on special occasions.

ok thanks, i'll keep testing, i was talking 2009 to 2009 new build but i cant see any changes in the renders yet, i'm having trouble with internal daytime renders, i have to keep using artifical lights everywhere to get global illumination in the rooms as in the lobby view enclosed there should be sun comming from the base shining through the entrance doors but its not working for me.

they have made changes to the Render Library in the new build of RAC 2009 and Autodesk recommends re-installing all librarys with the new build. http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=11770
