Hi guys,

I'm still pretty new to revit architecture and have had to try teach myself. I've got most of it sussed, but i just cant figure out how to select a paint for walls/choose a colour for them. Most walls are fine to be grey/white, but there are some rooms in some of my projects that need feature walls to properly convey the design I'm doing.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Select the wall press Right mouse button, at bottom you have properties for the selected object. Here you can Edit wall structure and in every layer of wall you can select material from Material library. Here you can also add your own materials.

To apply a paint color to a wall.
1. Open the materials dialog box and create a new material by duplicating another similar material.
2. Click the Rendered Appearance tab
3. Click the 'replace' button.
4. Select the paint color you want
5. On the graphics tab you can check the 'Use Rendered Appearance for Shading' or just pick a color from the big color rectangle button.
6. Close the materials dialog box
7. Now, edit the properties of the wall type
8. Click the skinny 'edit' button for the wall 'structure'.
9. Select the 'material' of the layer on the side of the wall you want painted
10. Pick your newly created material with paint
11. Ok, ok, ok, and that's pretty much it.
Once you create the material (step 5) you can also just use the REVIT 'Paint' tool to simply paint the face of the wall, or roof, or floor etc. with any material.
If you don't care about 'rendered appearance' and just want a 'shaded' paint you can pick a color off the Graphics tab of the Materials dialog box
Hope this helps.

Looks like you just need to create a new material and start by Duplicating a 'Paint' material which will have all the correct Assets that a paint material utilizes. See Image.

If the purpose of the color adjustment is to show on a Revit view one can do it with just 2 clicks using Graphic Studio (free trial). Check here:

http://www.archigrafix.com/graphic-studio-2017.html

Plenty of color palettes included, and also possible to load more palettes more from colorlovers.com.
