SOLUTION!

Export as a DWG

Open in CAD

Explode object

Assign each entity a layer (name them something obvious.. leaves.. dirt.. pot.. etc)

Save as DWG

Open revit -> New Family -> Import CAD

Then you are able to assign materials in the Object Style -> Imported Objects

Winking done & done
